I started off as a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund copy-editing intern at the Star-Tribune in Minneapolis, then becoming copy editor and, eventually, copy desk chief at a daily rural newspaper in New York. I then moved to D.C. and to SmartBrief, where I was a copy editor for more than a year and a half before shifting roles.
