Smart research, concise writing, sharp editing.

I help companies and thought leaders reach the right people, in the right place, at the right time, with the right information.

Why you want to hire me

Your company understands how content can drive leads, engagement and revenue, but maybe you’re not quite sure how.

Or, you know your existing content needs improvement to reach your core prospects and customers.

I can get you where you want to go.

I’m a B2B editor, content strategist and writer who’s spent over a decade creating best-in-class email newsletters, thought leadership blog posts and other business content — all designed to inform and delight key decision makers while spurring them to action.

Here’s just some of what I can deliver for your organization:

  • Editing expertise from proposal to outline to drafts and through to final copy.
  • Managing your content calendar, including working with writers and freelancers through the production process.
  • Improving your B2B email marketing through a deep understanding of the long game of cultivating audience loyalty.
  • Speaking and presentations about 21st-century workplace leadership, reaching B2B professional audiences and more.

My clients are usually B2B-focused, including corporations, content agencies and professional associations.

What I’ve done

For nearly 13 years at SmartBrief, I edited B2B email publications that delivered need-to-know information to business decision-makers.

I edited the SmartBrief on Leadership newsletter and blog, reaching more than 200,000 business owners, C-suite executives and managers with actionable advice on leading themselves and their teams in a rapidly changing business environment.

Here are just a few of the things I cultivated deep experience in while at SmartBrief:

  • How to write and edit B2B emails that deliver daily value, engender reader loyalty and “nudge” them to act.
  • Ability to quickly research and grasp the basics of a variety of business/industry topics — and create a repeatable process.
  • How to brainstorm, develop and launch newsletters with associations and other partners.
  • Brainstorming content marketing and webinar topics to help salespeople deliver value.
  • Hiring, training and managing freelancers and employees, including writing training documentation.

I started my career as a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund copy-editing intern at the Star-Tribune in Minneapolis, then was a copy editor and copy desk chief at a rural daily newspaper in central New York before moving to D.C. to work for SmartBrief.

Speaking and other work

Recent events include hosting a SmartBrief webinar on pandemic-era burnout with over 1,000 registrants, nearly 60% of whom attended live. I’ve also been interviewed through John Baldoni’s “What’s Next?” LinkedIn Live series, a panel discussion at the Berrett-Koehler Book Marketing Conference and webinars sponsored by NetSuite, Managing Editor and Influence & Co.

I also recap The Onion from 20 years ago in a weekly email that is NPR-recommended and has been profiled by Substack.
