Smart research, concise writing, sharp editing.

I help companies and thought leaders reach the right people, in the right place, at the right time, with the right information.

What I can do for you

I also edited the SmartBrief on Leadership newsletter and blog for more than 10 years, reaching business owners and C-suite executives with actionable advice on leading themselves and their teams in a rapidly changing business environment.

Here’s just some of what I can deliver:

  • B2B editorial strategy, research, editing and writing to improve your B2B content and earn leads, sales, engagement and branding.
  • Editing expertise from proposal to outline to drafts and through to final copy. I’ve also overseen production for full-timers and freelancers for over a decade, as well a
  • Deep understanding of B2B email marketing and the long game of cultivating audience loyalty.
  • Speaking and presentations about 21st-century workplace leadership, reaching B2B professional audiences and more.

My clients are usually B2B-focused, including corporations, content agencies and professional associations. I’m based in Silver Spring, Maryland, and mostly work remote but could be on-site for a local client in the DMV. Email me for rates and availability.

What I’ve done

For nearly 13 years at SmartBrief, I edited B2B email publications that delivered need-to-know information to business decision-makers.

I’ve created content, overseen freelancer and employee production, developed newsletters from scratch in partnership with clients, and helped co-workers and clients understand why content performs (and why it doesn’t).

I started my career as a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund copy-editing intern at the Star-Tribune in Minneapolis, then was a copy editor and copy desk chief at a rural daily newspaper in central New York before moving to D.C. to work for SmartBrief.

Speaking and other work

I also recap The Onion from 20 years ago in a weekly email that is NPR-recommended and has been profiled by Substack.

Recent events include hosting a SmartBrief webinar on pandemic-era burnout with over 1,000 registrants, nearly 60% of whom attended live. I’ve also been interviewed through John Baldoni’s “What’s Next?” LinkedIn Live series, a panel discussion at the Berrett-Koehler Book Marketing Conference and webinars sponsored by NetSuite, Managing Editor and Influence & Co.
